Minimal + Affordable: our kids' summer staples

Happy Summer! Our kids have only 4 days of school left for this year and I'm a mixed bag of emotions. I'm looking forward to road trips, sleeping in, and most importantly - not having to make lunches or set out clothes the night before! But I'm a little sad about how quickly this year has flown by - we were fortunate to have some of the most amazing teachers and have cultivated some pretty sweet friendships that I hope carry over into the summer!

Often times, teachers and parents comment on our kid's wardrobes. I admit it, we're a little different looking than most Southern kids! I'm thankful that Jude & Eva still allow me dress them so I'm going to shop away and enjoy it while it lasts.  It's truly like treasure hunting for me. I love searching for simple, modern pieces and my requirements are that they must be under $35. Sometimes I luck out and find basics under $10, which I normally grab multiples of. Our go-to online store is Zara (totally not sponsored here, haven't reach baller blogger status yet) because they offer simple modern pieces and offer free shipping both ways if you order over $50. Each season I order several pieces, do try-ons at home (much easier than dragging them into a store) and send back what doesn't work. It's really that easy.

For shoes, it's a different ballgame. Since I'm sticking to do my "under $35" rule I often have to look a little harder for deals. For Eva, we often grab a couple pairs of Cat & Jack shoes from Target. For Jude we usually get a neutral athletic shoe from a discount website like Eastbay or 6pm. And no worries, I'll be sourcing all our summer picks below! Our only other summer staples that I didn't picture are these awesome pull-on shorts, available in many colors and always in stock at your local Target!

Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a safe and wonderful summer!
